Each year, Medallion Group Insurance proudly supports first responders and their community-led initiatives through our May $6K Community Giveaway. After an exciting and busy campaign, we’re thrilled to spotlight the seven incredible recipients whose programs reflect our core values: Safety, Inclusion, Resilience, and Sustainability.

Camp Molly Foundation

Application submitted by Monique Belair

Founded by Deputy Fire Chief Monique Belair, Camp Molly offers self-identified females, non-binary, and two-spirit youth aged 15-18 a transformative, hands-on introduction to careers in the fire service. Camp Molly remains 100% free to participants – removing financial barriers and empowering the next generation of public safety leaders.

Indigenous Police Chiefs of Ontario / Ontario Provincial Police

Application submitted by Corey Jones

In partnership with the OPP’s Indigenous Policing Bureau, IPCO is launching an annual fundraising gala in support of Indigenous youth participating in the Little Native Hockey League (LNHL) tournament. The gala will raise funds to cover essential costs like equipment and travel, breaking down barriers and strengthening youth-police relationships across Ontario’s First Nations.

Mississauga Fire & Emergency Services 2025 Recruit Class

Application submitted by Ricardo Garcia

the 2025 MFES Recruit Class has partnered with Trillium Health Partners to raise funds in support of early cancer detection and research, in honour of their colleague and fellow firefighter. The team’s dedication shines a spotlight on the urgent need for diagnostic tools that protect the lives of those who protect us.

Veterans & Everyday Heroes

Application submitted by Andrew Gough

Employee Choice Recipient

Founded by veteran and former police officer Andrew Gough, V-EH! provides service dogs and essential support tools to first responders and veterans living with mental health injuries. With 12 service dogs already placed, the May $6K funding grant will help expand access and remove barriers to life-saving resources.

Anishinabek Police Service

Application submitted by Victoria Christie

May $6K Community Giveaway funding will support the Path Helper program, delivering culturally sensitive care packages – backpacks filled with essentials like hygiene items and traditional medicines – to individuals facing homelessness in First Nation communities that APS serves. This initiative reflects the teachings of love, respect and hope, and works to build trust and healing between communities and police.

Thames Centre Fire Department

Application submitted by Nick Dorken

TCFD is combatting cancer risks among its 60 volunteer firefighters by investing in PPE transport bags that reduce toxic exposure. With only 6 bags currently available to the team, this funding will help expand protection and promote long-term firefighter health.

North Bay Search & Rescue (BAYSAR)

Application submitted by Jennifer Upton

To improve safety and performance during emergency response, BAYSAR will use May $6K Community Giveaway funding to purchase purpose-built safety vests for their volunteer ground search team. With Ontario Corps deployment demands growing, this upgrade enhances visibility, gear security, and searcher safety.
